My fitness journey with Carla Jennings began in June 2014. Here's a part of my story. Prior to beginning my fitness training in June 2014, my doctor diagnosed me with pre-hypertension (my blood pressure readings consistently were borderline high blood pressure). As a result, my doctor strongly recommended I begin taking a prescription high blood pressure medicine due to my young age (around age 25 at that time), family history, and various life stressors (pharmacy school, studying for board exams, waiting on job placement, opening a new pharmacy, etc.). After a few conversations with my doctor over a few office visits as well as pushing past much hesitation and reluctance, I complied with my doctor's recommendation, but I knew something major had to happen/change.
Just prior to my fitness journey with Carla Jennings, I tried CrossFit for the first time. CrossFit was not a good fit for me, so my next attempt to jump start the change I needed was joining a local gym. My motivation to regularly go to the gym was severely lacking, so a few months after joining I cancelled my gym membership. The opportunity for something major to happen/change presented itself in the form of Fit4U!.
I grew up participating in several sports activities, so, not surprisingly, my momentum in fitness activities is not achieved by doing fitness activities alone. For me, going to a gym for a leg or chest/back day, for example, has never been appealing or yielded success. I benefited from workout sessions with Carla Jennings because the fitness training provided me the personal attention, much encouragement and motivation (even when I felt like I wasn't succeeding at all), consistent challenge and push, accountability, and focus I needed to jump start and stick to my fitness journey as an adult.
While I benefit greatly from and enjoy the variety cardio exercises and strength training that are present in each FIT4U! workout, of equal benefit to me is the coaching/advice I have been given regarding my eating choices. I have witnessed first hand that weight loss is 80% diet (what you eat), and 20% fitness. Carla Jennings has shared with me the value of decreasing sugar in my diet, increasing my water intake, and decreasing fried/fatty foods. While this is a continuous area of commitment and growth for me, Carla Jennings planted seeds of knowledge that will grow indefinitely!
Circling back to my diagnosis to pre-hypertension and my decision to comply with my doctor's recommendation to begin taking a prescription medication for high blood pressure. Within my first four months of fitness training and healthy eating coaching from Carla Jennings - with the use of no teas,...I lost enough weight to consistently have blood pressure readings within normal limits. I no longer needed a prescription blood pressure medication. To date, I have lost over 25 pounds. While losing weight was exciting to me, maintaining my weight is more exciting. I'm on a continuous journey of learning my body, how to be consistent, and "what works for me", and I love it :-).
I have benefited from Carla Jennings' fitness training immensely. My health status has literally changed. My overall well-being is improved. I will forever be grateful for the tremendous impact Carla Jennings' fitness training has had on my life!
